A Christmas crib blessing was held in the main lobby of the Dyer campus on December 7, 2011, given by Father Henry. Both staff and visitors took part in the
blessing.
The Christmas crib, also known as the Nativity scene or crèche, originates
with St. Francis of Assisi, who wanted to commemorate Jesus’s birth with a
physical display of real people and animals.
Since 1223, Christians all over the
world have followed St. Francis’s example by using a Nativity scene as a
reminder of Jesus’ humble but holy entrance into this world.
